Oppelskop Guided Hike

Cape Town

Activity Description

Hiking up Oppelskop, a lesser-known trail on Table Mountain, offers a peaceful and scenic escape from Cape Town’s busier routes. The trail begins near Deer Park and winds its way up through indigenous fynbos and rocky outcrops, gradually revealing sweeping views of the city, Table Bay, and Devil’s Peak.
The path is moderately challenging, with a steady incline and a few steeper sections, making it ideal for hikers with a decent fitness level.
Along the way, expect to encounter unique plant life, occasional dassies, and bursts of birdsong in the quieter stretches. At the summit, the panoramic views are breathtaking—perfect for a well-earned rest and photos.

WhereStart and End point: Devils Peak Parking Area
WeatherThe weather on table mountain can change in an instant so a light mid-layer and a rain jacket will ensure that you stay dry and warm if we find our selves in between the clouds.
What to WearWell supportive closed-toe walking shoes with good grip are a must. Cape town does experience very hot days in the summer and a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, and water will be needed. A long sleeve button-up shirt with a collar provides great sun coverage.
Things to BringHiking will make you peckish so bringing a snack for the way up is always a good idea
